NASRAC, An Upcoming Racing Sim Strategy Game

Posted by: Bradley Wint on July 11, 2008 at 1:46 am

Yes you saw right, it’s NASRAC, and not NASCAR. NASRAC stands for North American Stockcar Racing Analytics Competition. It is an online racing simulation strategy game where you take on the role of driver and crew chief.

The game is now in development, but you can check out the site in the mean time. This is more than just your average Fantasy game. You are in control all the way. Basically, as the pit manager, you call the shots as to how the car is configured. When you do configurations, you can add it to the queue and have it test driven on a track of your choice. You can also tweak and test all the time till you find the speed that you need. After you can send your car to qualify for positions on race day. When you tune your car, the configuration of stored and your car is added to a batch. The server takes over and runs the race simulation lap by lap based on all the drivers settings. You then get your results and move on. Configurations include Engine Tuning, Gearing, Splitter, Rear Wing, Tire Pressure, Brakes, Weight Distribution, Track Bar, Springs, Toe and Wedge.

The game is currently in it’s Beta stages and allows for Testing and Qualifying at the moment. Actual racing should be implemented within a few weeks time. Registration is free, so sign up and take a test run of the system. Also, Minnelli really wants to hear about how the game could be improved, so post your comments in his forum as well as to how the game can be improved.

Check it out at nasrac.com.
