Speedmaniacs.de interview with GTR’s Diego Sartoris

Posted by: Bradley Wint on July 8, 2008 at 10:09 am

Speedmaniacs.de was able to get an exclusive interview with Simbin’s Diego Sartoris about the upcoming release “GTR Evolution”. Here are some key points I gathered from the translated version of the interview.

GTR and RACE07 Engine
Basically the game is going to use the same engine as RACE07 but with some needed updates, especially in the physics department, all in an effort to get a better and smoother running game.

Distance Racing
The game will now seem to live up to it’s title of GT racing, as it will include distance racing rather than just the regular short track. Cars could now really be tested for endurance and live up to the GT name. Some of the bigger and longer tracks include Nurburgring with the Grand Prix circuit, the Norschleife Endurance and a variant.

Aston Martin DBR9 and DBRS9
He commented that all material in GTR Evolution is scratch made and not taken from previous versions of the GTR or RACE seris.

Fictitious Teams
The cars are real but teams are not. This is so because the authors wanted freedom of creativity. I guess it will spur on drivers in the gaming world to come up with inventive names rather than trying to create rip-offs of current team names.

What sets GTR Evolution Apart From The Rest
He said it all came down to personal opinion and preference. The main points though include improved sounds, better cars, improved physics, GT cars and Supersport cars and much more.
